Rock bottom, please!

Change… a word that sounds less scary than it is. People can live super monotonous or hectic lives and complain about every uninspired and gruelling second without ever exercising the concept of “making a change”. So after four hours on the phone listening to the exact same, but latest epic battle between my friend and her boyfriend, I start to wonder what it is that keeps us racing around in a ring of never-ending unhappiness. Perhaps a combination of fearing the unknown, the risk you may be taking and stepping out of your comfort zone. At the root of it though – fear.

Being afraid is perfectly normal. What’s not is you allowing it to hold you back from the life you expected to be living – one where you actually broke a smile once or twice a day. It seems that only when a person has hit the bottom of the bucket and has nothing left to lose, will they consider change. The risk is minimal, so the fear is too. There’s no comfort zone left, so stepping beyond it is a given. Finally, the unknown transforms into hope. However, why should we wait till we’ve reached such a point?

Quit festering in your own filthy puddle of fear. Do not allow it to bind you to a life you weren’t meant to live. You have this lifetime and this one alone to make it exactly what you want it to be… so go for it! Anything is better than your obnoxious boss discrediting you and then stealing the glory, those mongrels called shoppers subjecting you to one excruciating complaint after another and a relationship that has become such a one-way street that even the tumbleweed is scarce on the receiving road… these were all scenarios I walked away from. It may have taken a while, but I finally traded in my fear for something more.

I continue my quest for the life I dream of living… but I’m out there and I’m smiling.

About Little Miss Spanglish

Bright-eyed dreamer, set in her ways... enjoys working-out to slow jams. Hates being called by her full name by people close to her. Has never had a pet, yet has names picked out for her future fish, cat and Teacup pig (name of future dog still in the works). Loves receiving handwritten letters in the mail (long, handwritten messages in thoughtfully picked out cards also result in a smile). Will stare in disdain at her plate if it is inhabited by: brown rice, asparagus or beets (coming around on the beets). Finds skipping-down-a-sidewalk to be a lost art in adults... refuses to let that happen to her.
